How to merge 2 document libraries in sharepoint
How to merge 2 document libraries in sharepoint
I have two (2) Document libraries in WSS 3.0 that I need to merge into one (1). Is it possible using either GUI or STSADM to merge the contents in Document Library A into Document Library B without having to manually move them one by one?
I considered using the export and import command but I fear I might overwrite the contents in the library I'm attempting to import to. Any ideas?
Solution: How to merge 2 document libraries in sharepoint
If you do not care about version history then you can use "Explorer View"
Open each library in its own window, choose Actions - Open in Windows Explorer
Drag and drop files like you would in Windows.
The only issue is that this removes all previous versions
STSADM import/export is only good for Sites or Site Collections. You can't backup an individual library with it.
