Problem: "MMC cannot open the file c:\winnt\system32\admgmt.m<wbr />sc."
"MMC cannot open the file c:\winnt\system32\admgmt.m
sc."
Windows 2003 SBS SP1. On Tuesday locked up while doing some sort of Windows update. Then said it had to roll back the update and then redo it. Took several reboots. All seems to be working. But when I run admgmt.msc to get to AD, get this error message: "MMC cannot open the file c:\winnt\system32\admgmt.m
sc." I think the update messed up some admin files. But the odd part is that if I rename the file (copy of admgmt.msc, it will run. If I rename it back, I get the error message. Any ideas?
I've looked at the MS site's discussion of Windows 32/64 getting confused. But I can't see how that applies here.
Solution: "MMC cannot open the file c:\winnt\system32\admgmt.m
sc."
Since SP1's been installed anyway, I'd suggest re-installing adminpak.msi from SP1.
