Windows Update Error 80072F78 and dt000
Windows Update Error 80072F78 and dt000
We recently purchased a new server and installed Windows 2008 Server SP2 on it. Before installing any 3rd party software or anything else, we wanted run windows updates...
After having the update wizard scan for available updates we chose which we wanted to install and let it begin the process. Five updates (KB961501, KB968537, KB969897, KB969898, and KB970238) were downloaded and installed properly, and before the system could install the other two updates it required a system restart. The server re-booted normally and after logging in, it continued to attempt to install the final Two updates (KB951847 and KB890830) however it posted an "Error Code 80072F78" and says that it could not update.
We have attemped every method listed in the microsoft article

We have also looked into the "IPv4 Offload Large Sends" idea mentioned in the article below (which, by the way, we didnt have that option listed for our NIC card)

Any ideas? We were thinking that there may be some kind of registry issue or setting that may need to be addressed or modified... Any help would be appreciated.
Solution: Windows Update Error 80072F78 and dt000
We found the solution... Internet Explorer -> Internet Options -> Security Tab -> Custom Level
Almost everything was disabled because of the default "High" Security Setting, so I enabled file downloads and prompting for file download as well as prompting for Active X controls etc. and the downloads worked fine.
